The weather in Uttarakhand has changed suddenly, bringing heavy rain and snowfall in the high-altitude areas. In Dehradun too, continuous rain has caused the temperature to drop. The Meteorological Department has issued an alert for eight districts of the state today. There are chances of snowfall and hail in the hilly regions. Since morning, clouds were scattered across the state, but by afternoon, the weather turned suddenly cold as chilly winds began to blow.

Heavy Rain in Dehradun Brings Relief from Heat

After noon, strong winds and heavy rain lashed Dehradun. Following days of intense heat, the downpour brought a sharp drop in temperature, giving people a much-needed sense of relief. The sudden change in weather is being seen as the beginning of the winter season.

While Dehradun experienced continuous rainfall and cool winds, Kedarnath saw a spell of heavy rain and snowfall, turning the atmosphere freezing cold. Devotees visiting Baba Bholenath’s shrine were filled with joy at the sight of the first snowfall of the season.

Kedarnath and Hemkund Sahib Covered in Snow

Pilgrims waiting in line for Baba’s darshan were amazed to see soft flakes of snow falling from the sky, resembling cotton. Many people started clicking pictures and taking selfies in the snowfall. Within moments, videos of the beautiful scene began spreading on social media. Kedarnath Dham and the nearby hills were completely covered in a white blanket of snow. The Meteorological Department had already predicted rain and snowfall in high-altitude regions for October 6 and 7.

After the rain and snowfall in Kedarnath Dham and nearby areas, the Rudraprayag Disaster Management Department has advised pilgrims to carry warm clothes and essential items during their journey. Officials also urged travelers to check the weather forecast before visiting.

It is worth noting that the portals of Baba Kedarnath will close for the winter season on October 23. Before the temple doors close, the first snowfall of the season has become a major attraction for devotees. Meanwhile, heavy snowfall has also been recorded at Hemkund Sahib.
