Chirag Rules Out Marriage, pledges commitment to Bihar

Union minister and Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) president Chirag Paswan, widely known as one of the most eligible bachelors in Bihar politics, has clearly stated that he will not marry, choosing instead to stay dedicated to his extended family and the state. Chirag, the only son of the late Union minister Ram Vilas Paswan, will turn 43 on October 31. Along with Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, he is counted among the most notable bachelors in Indian political life.

“Bihar is my first commitment,” Chirag said in a television interview. Explaining his stand, he added, “Prime Minister Narendra Modi is my inspiration and he, too, gave up family life for public service. Parivar ke ek sadasya ko sarvochh balidan karna padta hai (one member has to make the supreme sacrifice for the family).”

Focus on Bihar, Not Marriage

Rejecting the idea of marriage, Chirag said his main focus is Bihar’s progress. “Marriage is a huge responsibility and I don’t have time for such duties. I have a bigger mission. I believe in Bihar First, Bihari First. In this situation, there is no space for personal commitment. Marriage is a big duty and should not be taken lightly,” said the Hajipur MP.

Family’s Future Plans
During the recent Voter Adhikar Yatra, RJD leader Tejashwi Prasad Yadav, while sitting with Rahul Gandhi, suggested that Chirag should marry. Rahul, seated next to Tejashwi, joked that the same suggestion applied to him as well.

Chirag’s brother-in-law and Jamui MP Arun Bharti also confirmed that Chirag is not thinking about marriage now. “However, after the assembly elections, the family will ask him to get married,” he said.
