Punjab News. Aam Aadmi Party MLA from Ludhiana South assembly seat Rajinderpal Kaur Chhina was seriously injured in a road accident late Tuesday night. While returning from Delhi, her Innova car hit a divider near Khanauri border.
The gunman who was with him also sustained injuries in the accident. Both were first admitted to Kaithal Hospital in Haryana, from where the MLA was referred to Ludhiana after first aid. He is currently undergoing treatment at a private hospital in the city and his condition is said to be critical.
The MLA had returned from America
According to information, MLA Rajinderpal Kaur Chhina had recently gone to America, where she attended a conference. She landed at Delhi airport on Tuesday night. Her husband, son, gunman and driver had reached the airport to pick her up. All were returning to Ludhiana in an Innova car with the MLA.
There was a disruption at the Khanauri border
It is said that as soon as the vehicle reached near the Khanauri border, something suddenly came in front. The driver tried to control the vehicle, but the vehicle went out of control and hit the divider. In the violent collision, the front part of the vehicle was badly damaged and the MLA suffered serious injuries on his face. The gunman sitting in the front seat of the vehicle also suffered injuries on his head and shoulder.
Passersby helped
Vehicles passing nearby stopped after the accident. Passers-by present at the spot immediately informed the police and ambulance. The injured MLA and the gunman were taken to a private hospital in Kaithal, Haryana by ambulance. After first aid here, the doctors referred them to Ludhiana after observing their condition. Police said that CCTV footage and statements of local people are being taken to ascertain the cause of the accident. The vehicle has been seized and an investigation has been started.
