Merit-Based Hiring Success: Punjab Govt Offers 54,422 Government and 4.5 Lakh Private Jobs

National News: Punjab has set a new record under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann. Since March 16, 2022, the government has created over 4.6 lakh new employment opportunities in both the private and government sectors. This achievement has brought great relief to the people, as unemployment was earlier a serious concern. The administration has focused on merit-based recruitment instead of recommendations, giving hope to thousands of families. The “Ghar Ghar Rozgar Te Karobar Mission” has played a vital role in bringing this positive change.

Ghar Ghar Rozgar Portal

The ‘Ghar Ghar Rozgar Te Karobar Mission’ portal (pgrkam.com) has become a major support in this mission. This simple website has more than 8 lakh job seekers and 4,500 registered companies. The portal not only connects people with jobs but also helps them get skill training and start their own businesses. Employment fairs are regularly organized, including one where 90,000 jobs were offered. The government also gives Rs 2,500 every month to trainees. Between 2022 and 2024, lakhs of young people have received career guidance through this program to build successful futures.

Over 54,000 Government Jobs

The government has also been quick in offering permanent government jobs. Till June 2025, over 54,422 posts were filled across 40 departments, mainly in education and police. All recruitment is being done honestly without bribes or recommendations—only on merit through PPSC and PSSSB. After coming to power, the government made 9,000 temporary employees permanent. By December 2024, 50,000 posts had been filled, bringing new teachers to schools and doctors to hospitals. This has improved public services across the state.

4.5 Lakh Jobs Through New Private Investments

The state government has also encouraged new industries in Punjab. More than Rs 1.25 lakh crore of investment has come into the state, leading to 4.5 lakh new private jobs in fields like auto parts, food processing, and electronics. Major companies such as Infosys and Haldiram have shown interest in Punjab. This progress is possible because the government made business registration and inspection simpler. A new law introduced in October 2025 is expected to create 25,000 more jobs soon. Punjab is fast becoming a top destination for new industries.

Unemployment Rate Falling and Youth Benefiting

When we count both 54,422 government and 4.5 lakh private jobs, over 5 lakh employment opportunities have been generated in total. This has helped reduce the unemployment rate—from 6.89 per cent in March 2023 to 6.5 per cent by July 2025. Rural unemployment (5.8 per cent) is under control, and work is being done to lower it in cities (8.2 per cent) too. These jobs are not temporary or false promises—they include permanent, contract, and self-employment opportunities. This has stopped many youths from leaving Punjab and made families financially stable. The Mann government has focused mainly on youth aged 18–35, women, and villagers. About 1.64 lakh people have benefited from 1,149 self-employment camps. Farmer’s daughters are being trained for agriculture-based businesses, and boys are learning computer skills. Because jobs are given based on ability, favoritism has ended. Women have found good positions in health and education. With industries opening near villages, people don’t have to move to cities. As unemployment drops, issues like drug use are also coming under control.

Overcoming Challenges and Building a Strong Punjab

At the start, the government faced difficulties such as a Rs 3 lakh crore debt on the state. Opposition parties like Congress and Akali Dal claimed that promises were not being kept. But the government continued its work. When there were delays in government hiring, private companies were invited to provide more jobs. Some critics said the jobs existed only on paper, but the government proved them wrong through real results—like the fair where 90,000 jobs were offered. This shows the ability to turn challenges into opportunities. Punjab is now moving confidently toward 2026, with over 5 lakh jobs becoming permanent. Chief Minister Mann’s slogan—“Not recommendation, ability”—is now a reality. From teachers in schools to engineers in factories, success stories are everywhere. Anyone seeking a job can visit pgrkam.com or pbemployment.punjab.gov.in. This is not just about giving jobs—it’s about creating a strong, self-reliant Punjab. The government’s efforts are showing how promises can truly be fulfilled, marking a big step toward a better future for everyone.
