My life is in danger because of my comment on Savarkar... Rahul Gandhi claimed in Pune court.

Rahul Gandhi: Congress MP Rahul Gandhi has filed an application in a Pune court, saying that there is a serious threat to his life. This application was filed under the defamation case related to his comment on Savarkar. Rahul Gandhi, citing the assassination of Mahatma Gandhi, said that history should not be allowed to repeat itself.

In his application, Rahul Gandhi claimed that the threat to his security has increased manifold due to the recent political issues raised and the comments made about Savarkar in the past. He linked the complainant’s family history to violence and unconstitutional activities and expressed apprehension that he could be harmed or implicated in false cases.

Political issues and the ‘vote theft’ controversy increased the threat

Rahul Gandhi said that many of the issues raised recently, especially the allegations of ‘vote theft,’ have enraged his political opponents. He told the court that he has received two public threats from the BJP. Union Minister Raveenit Singh Bittu called him ‘the country’s number one terrorist.’ BJP leader Tarvinder Singh Marwah also made an open threat. Rahul says that this threat is completely real and the court should take it seriously.

Mention of the background related to the Savarkar family

In the application, Rahul Gandhi mentioned that the complainant in this case is a direct descendant of Nathuram Godse, and his family has a documented history of violence and unconstitutional activities. He says that given this background, his danger increases even more.

This is completely irrelevant—Satyaki Savarkar

Savarkar’s grandson Satyaki Savarkar called Rahul Gandhi’s application completely ‘irrelevant.’ He said that this application was filed a long time ago, but Rahul is deliberately delaying the case. According to Satyaki Savarkar, the court has already clarified that Rahul Gandhi’s personal presence is not necessary for the hearing of this case. Despite this, he is trying to postpone the proceedings.
