East Delhi: Delhi Police has taken a significant step towards strengthening security along the Delhi-Uttar Pradesh border with the inauguration of a newly constructed police post near National Highway-24 in the Ghazipur police station area. Special Commissioner of Police (Law and Order), Zone-I, Devesh Chandra Srivastava, inaugurated the facility, which is expected to improve surveillance, provide permanent accommodation for police personnel and facilitate coordination between the police forces of the two states.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by Joint Commissioner of Police, Eastern Range, Milind Mahadev Dumbere; Deputy Commissioner of Police, East District, Rajiv Kumar Rawal; Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police Srishti Pandey; assistant commissioners of police, station house officers, police personnel, members of the Aman Committee and schoolchildren.

Permanent Police Facility to Enhance Border Security

Addressing the gathering, Special Commissioner of Police Devesh Chandra Srivastava described the new police post as a commendable initiative by the East District Police team. He highlighted the strategic importance of Ghazipur Border, a key transit point between Delhi and Uttar Pradesh where police personnel are regularly deployed to maintain security.

He noted that additional forces are also assigned to the area whenever circumstances require heightened security arrangements. The newly established facility will provide police personnel with a permanent base, enabling them to perform their duties more effectively.

Srivastava also observed that the well-constructed police post would serve as a useful venue for meetings and discussions between Delhi and Uttar Pradesh Police on border-related matters. Such interactions are expected to strengthen coordination and help address security challenges more efficiently. He congratulated the entire East District Police team for completing the initiative.

How Can Community Participation Strengthen Public Safety?

Srivastava particularly appreciated the contributions of Aman Committee members and Police Mitras in maintaining peace and harmony in the area. He recalled that during Navratri and Ramleela celebrations, a large number of police personnel were deployed for law-and-order duties in different parts of the city.

Despite these demanding arrangements, members of the Aman Committee and local residents worked alongside the police to ensure peaceful celebrations and maintain communal harmony. He praised their cooperation and expressed the intention to encourage similar community-led support mechanisms in other areas.

Police-Public Partnership at the Centre of Security Strategy

The new police post is expected to serve as more than a permanent workplace for police personnel. It represents an effort to strengthen border monitoring, improve coordination between neighbouring state police forces and encourage greater public participation in local security arrangements.

The East District Police initiative is expected to contribute to more effective law enforcement and enhance residents’ sense of safety in the Ghazipur border area. The facility also underlines the importance of cooperation between law enforcement agencies and local communities in maintaining peace and security in sensitive border zones.
