New Delhi: Millions of farmers across the country have received a gift. The Narendra Modi government has released the 22nd installment of the PM-KISAN Samman Nidhi. During an event in Guwahati, Assam, PM Modi transferred the 22nd installment amount of ₹2,000. More than 9.32 crore farmers are set to benefit from this initiative. It is worth noting that among the beneficiaries receiving the 22nd installment of the PM-KISAN Samman Nidhi, over 2.15 crore are women farmers.
How much will farmers receive?
Under this scheme, eligible farmer families receive an annual sum of ₹6,000, disbursed in three equal installments, which is deposited directly into their bank accounts through the ‘Direct Benefit Transfer’ (DBT) system. With the release of this installment, the total amount distributed under PM-KISAN has exceeded ₹4.27 lakh crore.
According to previous data regarding the scheme, in February 2025, ₹22,000 crore was transferred to 9.8 crore farmers as the 19th installment. Subsequently, in August 2025, ₹20,500 crore was provided to 9.7 crore farmers under the 20th installment, and in November 2025, ₹18,000 crore was disbursed to 9 crore farmers as the 21st installment.
Is E-KYC mandatory?
E-KYC is mandatory for farmers registered under PM-KISAN. OTP-based E-KYC is available on the PM-KISAN portal, or one may contact the nearest Common Service Center for biometric-based E-KYC. To assist beneficiaries, a module titled ‘Know Your Status’ (KYS) has been made available on the PM-KISAN portal. This module provides access to all relevant information—such as payment status, eligibility, land details, Aadhaar linking status, and E-KYC status—all in one place.
Is there a mobile app?
The government has also introduced a mobile app based on facial recognition, enabling farmers to complete their e-KYC from the comfort of their homes without the need for an OTP or a biometric device. Nodal officers at the state and village levels are providing additional assistance in this endeavor. The Ministry of Agriculture’s AI-based voice chatbot, ‘Kisan-eMitra,’ offers round-the-clock assistance in 11 regional languages and has, to date, resolved the queries of millions of farmers.
What about the verification system?
A robust verification system has been implemented to weed out ineligible beneficiaries, while a facility allowing affluent farmers to voluntarily opt out of their eligibility (Voluntary Surrender) has also been introduced. Provisions have also been made to reinstate those farmers who had inadvertently forfeited their eligibility.
