Punjab Announces Rs 1000–₹1500 Monthly Aid for Women, Scheme Notified

Chandigarh. The Punjab government on Friday issued a notification to give Rs 1,000 to general category women and Rs 1,500 to Scheduled Caste women under the Mother-Daughter Welfare Scheme. Registration will start from 13th April. Income tax payers and government employees have been kept out of the scheme while Anganwadi, mid-day meal workers and women doing private jobs will be able to avail the benefits.

What is this plan?

Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann had announced the ‘Mukhyamantri Mawan Dhiyan Satkar Yojana’ (Chief Minister Mother-Daughter Satkar Yojana) on International Women’s Day. Under this, women above 18 years of age will get Rs 1,000 per month, while Scheduled Caste women will get Rs 1,500. A provision of Rs 9,300 crore has been made for this ambitious scheme. The objective of this scheme is to empower women financially.

Who will not get its benefit?

Let us tell you that in the ‘Mukhyamantri Mavan Dhiyan Satkar Yojana’ (Chief Minister Mother-Daughter Satkar Yojana), only present or former government employees, former and present MPs/MLAs and income tax payers have been kept out of it. Apart from this, all women above 18 years of age can avail the benefits of this scheme. Punjab Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema has claimed that about 97 percent of adult women of Punjab will come under its purview.

How to apply?

Registration for this scheme will start from April 13. The Punjab government has aimed to make the application process for this scheme quite simple and transparent. Through what means can one apply for this scheme?

Which documents will be required?

Before registering for ‘Mukhyamantri Mavan Dhiyan Satkar Yojana’, you may need important documents like Punjab residence certificate, Aadhar card, bank passbook, mobile number, passport size photo, age certificate, income certificate and ration card.
