Punjab: The Punjab Cabinet, led by the Chief Minister, has approved the empanelment of 300 specialist doctors across 12 major medical categories to provide quality healthcare services to the state’s citizens. The decision, made at a cabinet meeting chaired by the Chief Minister, is expected to improve the quality of secondary healthcare services available to the state’s citizens.
Experts from 12 important areas included
The empaneled doctors will include specialists in 12 key fields, including medicine, pediatricians, psychiatrists, dermatologists, chest and tuberculosis, surgery, gynecologists, orthopedists, ophthalmologists, ENT, and anesthesiology. The empanelment process will be conducted at the district level through civil surgeons, and empaneled doctors will be entitled to charge per-patient empanelment fees for outpatient, IPD, emergency services, operations, and other medical services. This move will increase the availability of specialist doctors and ensure the convenience and reliability of healthcare services for the citizens of Punjab.
Approval of Rule 28A under 1963
The Cabinet has approved Rule 28A of the Punjab Cooperative Societies Rules, 1963, which will ensure a uniform disciplinary and appellate framework. This will prevent duplication of adjudication in the appeals process and avoid conflicting decisions across institutions. Appeals under the rule will be heard only once, enhancing clarity and accountability in administrative orders. This move will help bring uniformity and transparency to apex cooperative sector institutions and central cooperative banks in Punjab.
Amendments to the Punjab Minor Mineral Rules 2013
The Cabinet has approved amendments to the Punjab Minor Mineral Rules 2013, in accordance with the Punjab State Minor Minerals (Amendment) Policy 2025, to make mining activities more efficient, transparent, and citizen-friendly. The amendments will streamline the rights and regulations of mining lease holders for crusher mining sites and landowner mining sites allocated in the state. The aim is to simplify the process of mining services and ensure transparency, regulation, and accountability in mining activities in the state.
