Mumbai: The makers of ‘Dhurandhar’, which made massive numbers at the box office, are gearing up for a high-octane return with ‘Dhurandar 2’, which is slated hit the theatres on March 19. Recently sharing the craze about the film, actor R Madhavan said that fans in the UAE are already booking their flights to India.
Why is the buzz?
The first part, ‘Dhurandhar’, was a massive success, reportedly grossing Rs 1,300 crore worldwide and collecting $32 million overseas. This achievement came despite the film being banned in several Middle Eastern countries.
Now, the excitement has doubled with the sequel scheduled for release on March 19.
What did R Madhavan say?
While speaking on a podcast with Sonia Shenoy on her YouTube channel, R. Madhavan shared that how fans from Dubai are reacting to the ban in the Gulf.
The actor also shared about the excitement for the film, stating that, “That’s the power of good content. Now they are planning their business meetings around March 19 so that they can attend the meeting and watch Dhurandhar 2 because it’s not releasing in Dubai.”
“For them, it would be so easy to just watch it on IPTV, okay? And I’m sure they could. But they want to experience watching a film like Dhurandhar in a theatre full of people,” he further added.
What did he Madhavan say about cinema evolution?
The actor also shared his thoughts about evolving landscape of Indian cinema.
Madhavan said that filmmakers have often centred action films around the India–Pakistan conflict or the country’s freedom struggle but the new generation is no longer interested in revisiting them.
“They’re like, samajh gaya main, kitni baar bologe? (I’ve understood it, how many times will you say it?) And I think after Dhurandhar, that whole India–Pakistan thing is going to go. That’s the full stop now,” he said.
What will ‘Dhurandhar: The Revenge’ offer?
The Aditya Dhar’s directorial ‘Dhurandhar: The Revenge’ will star Ranveer Singh, Sanjay Dutt, Arjun Rampal, R. Madhavan, Rakesh Bedi, and Sara Arjun.
According to reports, actor Akshaye Khanna’s Rehman Dakait character might also a make a comeback through flashback sequences in the movie.
The film will also reveal who is ‘Bade Saab’. The movie is set to release in multiple languages, like Hindi, Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu, and Kannada.
‘Dhurandhar: The Revenge’ will release in theatres on March 19.

The first part ‘Dhurandhar’ received a global box office collection of Rs 1,300 crore. The film became the highest-grossing Hindi film after earning over Rs 800 crore net.
