Punjab News. It has been raining continuously in the hilly areas of Punjab for the last several days. This torrential rain has caused devastation in the plains. The town of Rayan in Baba Bakala Sahib Tehsil also came under the grip of this disaster. A huge blockage suddenly appeared in the canal here, which caused panic in the surrounding villages.

Due to the breaking of the canal, paddy crop standing in about 20 acres got submerged in water. Months of hard work of the farmers was wasted in a few hours. Areas like village Dhyanpur, Kaler and Dubbgarh Colony were flooded with water. People started keeping their belongings on higher places for fear of water entering their houses.

In such a situation, Radha Swami Satsang Dera Beas once again fulfilled its human duty. The Dera management immediately sent 10 thousand sacks filled with soil. These sacks were put on the crack in the canal so that the fast flow of water could be stopped and further damage could be avoided.

Administration is also present on the spot

District Amritsar Deputy Commissioner Shakti Sahni, SSP Rural and many senior officers immediately reached the spot. They took stock of the situation and monitored the rescue work. The administration deployed a team of engineers and called for machinery to repair the canal.

Police took over the front

The police force also played an important role in the relief work. The SHO and the police station staff barricaded the canal banks so that no one gets trapped in the strong current. People were evacuated to safer places and needy families were given temporary shelter.

The struggle of the villagers

The people of the village joined the administration and Dera Beas in relief work. Many young men picked up sacks and carried them to the canal bank. Women and elders were also seen helping in distributing food items. This scene became an example of humanity.

he weather department has issued an alert that rain will continue for the next few days. The administration has appealed to people not to go near the canal and river banks. Relief camps have been kept ready and medical teams have also been deployed so that immediate treatment can be provided in case of any emergency.
