New Delhi: Amidst the ongoing protests and incidents of violence in many countries of Europe, the Indian government has advised its citizens living there to remain alert. The Ministry of External Affairs is monitoring the situation regarding the security of Indian citizens in France, Italy and Belgium. Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said that Indian missions in the respective countries are in touch with the local administration and are in constant communication with the people of the Indian community living there.

This advice from the Ministry of External Affairs has come at a time when protests are taking place in many parts of Europe regarding inflation and other issues. At some places, demonstrations have also turned violent. In such a situation, Indian citizens have been appealed to follow the guidelines issued by the local administration and take precautions.

What advice has the Ministry of External Affairs given to Indian citizens?

According to External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal, Indian missions in France, Italy and Belgium are closely monitoring the situation. Indian citizens present there have been advised to remain alert, exercise caution while travelling and stay away from areas where protests are taking place.

Jaiswal also said that Indian embassies in the respective countries have issued advisories for their citizens. The Ministry of External Affairs is committed to the safety and well-being of Indian citizens living abroad. Citizens have been advised to follow the instructions of local authorities and contact the Indian Mission if needed.

What happened during the protests in France?

The administration has tightened security amid fears of protests once again in France on Saturday. Earlier, incidents of violence and looting were reported in some parts of the country. According to media reports, some protesters damaged public properties and shops.

A large number of police personnel have been deployed in France to control the situation. The authorities are trying to ensure that a situation like violence and riots does not arise again during new demonstrations. Special attention is being paid to security arrangements in sensitive areas including the capital Paris.

However, the situation of demonstrations may be different in different cities. Therefore, Indian citizens going there have been advised to keep an eye on local news and instructions issued by the administration.

Why has security concern increased in other countries of Europe?

Apart from France, there have been reports of a large number of people taking to the streets in other parts of Europe including Italy, Albania and Portugal. Issues like rising inflation and economic problems are being said to be the main reasons behind these protests.

There have also been reports of tension between protesters and security forces at some places. The administration has increased security measures after incidents of violence and damage to public property. However, the reason and situation of protests are not the same in all countries.

In such circumstances, it becomes important for foreign nationals to follow local rules and safety instructions. Indian citizens have been advised to avoid crowded areas and avoid visiting sensitive areas unnecessarily.

How can Indian citizens stranded abroad seek help?

Indian citizens living abroad should contact the local police and administration in case of any emergency. Additionally, they can check the notifications released on the official website and social media accounts of the respective Indian Embassy or Consulate.

People traveling are advised to keep their important documents safe, maintain contact with family members and inquire about the situation in the concerned city before travelling. If there is a warning of demonstration or violence in any area, then one should avoid going there.
