New Delhi/Bhopal: In a significant capacity-building initiative aimed at tightening the grip on expanding drug networks and sharpening the response of security agencies against narcotics trafficking, the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) organized a special training session for senior commandant-level officers at the Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) Academy in Bhopal. The objective was to familiarize officers with the legal framework, operational procedures, and evolving trafficking methods, ensuring the effective implementation of the ‘Vision Document 2026-29’ for drug control.

During the session, the comprehensive strategy for ‘Operation Nashamukti’ (Drug-Free Campaign) was outlined to the officers. Sixteen SSB officers received detailed briefings on various provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. They were sensitized to procedures ranging from the identification of narcotics and initial action to search, seizure, and the arrest of the accused.

The training went beyond mere legal provisions, highlighting the changing face of the illicit drug trade. Officers were apprised of current and emerging trends in drug trafficking, the novel methods employed by smugglers, and effective countermeasures to tackle them.

Enhanced coordination among various security and law enforcement agencies was identified as a crucial link for effective drug control. Additionally, the roles and responsibilities of the concerned officers regarding the effective implementation of the ‘Vision Document 2026-29’ were discussed in detail. This NCB initiative is considered a significant step towards simultaneously strengthening legal understanding, ground-level enforcement, and inter-agency synergy in the fight against narcotics.
