Suspects Linked to Jaish-e-Mohammed Arrested in Ghaziabad; Two Members of Hindu Organizations on Target

In Ghaziabad, a city bordering Delhi, the police have arrested six individuals after uncovering a suspected terrorist module. According to investigative agencies, these accused individuals are suspected of having links to the banned terrorist organization Jaish-e-Mohammed, as well as other radical networks. Interrogation revealed that these individuals consumed and disseminated radical content via social media and were also conspiring to target specific individuals.

Two Members of Hindu Organizations Were the Targets

The investigation further revealed that the prime accused—identified as Sawej, alias ‘Jihadi’—was planning to target two individuals associated with Hindu organizations in Ghaziabad, acting under the instructions of handlers based abroad. However, for security reasons, the police have not publicly disclosed the identities of these two individuals. Agencies state that the conspiracy was foiled through timely intervention.

Training Acquired by Watching Videos

According to the police, the accused were attempting to self-train by watching videos associated with banned organizations. They also shared these videos with their associates and endeavored to propagate radical ideologies. Several suspicious chat logs and pieces of content have been recovered from the accused individuals’ mobile phones, which are currently being scrutinized.

Network Expanded via Social Media and Messaging Apps

The investigation revealed that the accused had created groups on WhatsApp and other platforms, where radical messages and videos were shared. The police stated that attempts were being made to recruit numerous youths from Western Uttar Pradesh through these groups.

Case Registered Under UAPA

A case has been registered under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) and various sections of the Indian Penal Code against the six accused individuals, who were arrested from Nahal village within the jurisdiction of the Masuri Police Station in Ghaziabad. The police and intelligence agencies are now conducting a thorough examination of their mobile phones, social media activities, and potential network connections.
