New Delhi: Badshah was embroiled in significant controversy a few days ago regarding his Haryanvi song, ‘Tateeree’. The track faced widespread backlash over its lyrics and certain visuals. Consequently, the accompanying music video was subsequently deleted. Badshah also tendered an apology to the National Commission for Women, and now, the singer is set to release a revamped version of the same song, titled ‘Tateeree Phir Se’ (Tateeree Again).
What Did Badshah Announce?
On April 10, Badshah posted on Instagram stating that over the past few weeks, he had listened to the feedback and opinions of government officials, the Women’s Commission, social activists, and others concerned with cultural sensitivities regarding his song ‘Tateeree’. Acting on that feedback, he has implemented necessary changes and has removed the specific sections that were the subject of the controversy.
Badshah also shared a few glimpses of the revamped music video, much to the delight of his fans. Badshah emphasized that he respects the sentiments and feedback of the public. He stated that, as an artist, creativity comes with a responsibility toward society, as culture holds immense importance. Badshah remarked, “‘Tateeree Phir Se’ represents the next step in that journey. It is your support, your voice, and your trust that have kept this song alive. I hope this new avatar carries forward the same energy and the same spirit of respect.”
What did Badshah Promise?
On Tuesday, Badshah offered his apology to the National Commission for Women. Alongside this apology, he made two specific pledges: first, he has taken on the responsibility of funding the education of 50 economically underprivileged girls; and second, he has committed to writing a song dedicated to women’s empowerment within the next four months.
What Was the Controversy Surrounding the Song?
It is worth noting that the song “Tatiri” was originally released on March 1. Badshah performed the track and also penned its lyrics. The music was composed by Hiten, while the music video was directed by Mahi Sandhu and Jomin Sandhu. Incidentally, a few days ago, Badshah also garnered significant attention regarding his personal life when a photo of him with Punjabi actress Isha Rikhi went viral. It was rumored that Badshah had tied the knot with Isha in a private ceremony. Fans showered the couple with congratulations. However, Badshah himself has not yet made any official comment on the matter.
