New Delhi: A major change has occurred in US President Donald Trump’s administration. Katie Zachariah, who took over as White House Press Secretary just five days ago, has been removed from her position. According to a New York Times report, this decision comes amid controversy surrounding her bar exam. Furthermore, she faced significant difficulties during press conferences with the media.
This information came to light when Donald Trump commented on Katie before boarding Air Force One on Saturday. The US President said that he had asked Katie about continuing in the job. He also asked her to reconsider her decision to leave. Trump said, “The media has treated Katie very badly. Very badly. It’s completely unfair. I just asked her, ‘Is this job right for you? She’s a good person. I’m leaving that decision to her. Sean Hannity was a little harsh. Katie has had a very bad start, and the news has been very negative towards her. I told her, ‘To be honest, if I were you, I would reconsider.’ Maybe this job isn’t for her.”
Controversy surrounding Katie Zacharias’ bar exam
Katie Zacharias, who replaced Trump’s firebrand secretary Caroline Levitt, created a buzz from day one. She assumed the role of White House Press Secretary on October 10. Within days, she faced media scrutiny over her legal qualifications. Following her appointment, reports emerged that Zacharias was not registered as a lawyer in New York, the District of Columbia, California, Texas, and Florida. Other reports claimed that she was, in fact, never registered to practice law anywhere in the United States.
Zakaria had described herself as a lawyer. Trump also referred to her as a lawyer when announcing her name. But now, even her existence as a lawyer is being questioned. Records show that Zakaria earned a law degree from Pepperdine University in 2011. However, her lack of a bar license means she never officially became a lawyer. However, in an interview with Fox News’ Sean Hannity, she admitted that she had never passed the bar exam, while on Tuesday she claimed she had and said she did so “after going to China.”
Katie’s stressful first day
Furthermore, Katie’s first day was also extremely stressful. It was on this day that Trump surprisingly approved a diesel deal with Russia. This led to a sharp reaction from the American media towards the White House. Zakaria, resigning as White House Press Secretary within just five days, has become the shortest-serving White House Press Secretary. Previously, Anthony Scaramucci had also left the position after just 11 days.
