On Monday, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath sent out 48 trucks filled with relief items to help people in Uttarakhand, Punjab, and Himachal Pradesh who are suffering due to floods. At the event, the Chief Minister stated that the state government has provided ₹5 crore each from the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund to the governments of Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh to assist in their relief operations.

“I have just sent 48 trucks of relief goods for people in Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh and Punjab who are affected by floods and heavy rains. Yogi Adityanath told reporters that an amount of ₹5 crore each from the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund is also being provided to Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh to support their relief efforts.

Support Under ‘One India – Excellent India’

In a post on social media platform X, the Chief Minister shared that this help is being sent under the ‘One India – Excellent India’ initiative led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

“In line with the idea of ‘One India – Excellent India’ given by our Honourable Prime Minister Shri @narendramodi ji, we all stand united in this difficult time. In his post, he mentioned that, representing the 25 crore residents of Uttar Pradesh, trucks loaded with relief supplies for the flood-hit areas of Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand were dispatched today from the sacred site of Mother Shakumbhari Devi in Saharanpur.

Punjab Requests Funds from Centre

Earlier in the day, Punjab Cabinet Minister Barinder Kumar Goyal, looking at the situation of floods caused by heavy rain, asked Prime Minister Narendra Modi to release ₹20,000 crore for the state. While talking to the media, Goyal stated that Punjab has faced massive damage and urged the Prime Minister to release the funds stuck with the Central Government. “We urge the Prime Minister to immediately provide at least ₹20,000 crore to Punjab and also clear the pending dues from the Centre. This is our appeal to him,” he said.

Flood Situation in Punjab

Punjab is still facing a severe flood situation with many villages under water. Crops and animals have been badly damaged, and many people have lost their lives. Roads and connectivity have been cut off in several places, making relief work hard, but officials are working actively to provide help to affected people.
