Work underway to increase water flow at temporary lake: Uttarkashi administration

The Uttarkashi district administration stated on Thursday that efforts are ongoing to increase the water flow in the temporary lake near Syanachatti. The lake appeared due to a partial blockage of the Yamuna River, and officials are working on desilting and channelising the river to ensure better drainage.

Temporary Lake Formed Due to Debris

The temporary lake formed when debris from Gadgad Gadera obstructed the Yamuna river near Syanachatti. Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami visited the site and instructed officials to remove the silt from the river and widen the lake’s mouth to allow water to drain faster.

CM Inspects Disaster-Affected Areas

On Wednesday, CM Dhami visited the flood-hit areas in Syanachatti and spoke with the residents. He heard their problems and assured them of full support. He also asked the District Magistrate to evaluate the damage caused by waterlogging and debris and submit a detailed report.

Support for Local Farmers and Infrastructure

The CM instructed officials to declare the minimum support price for the potato crop, which faced disruption due to blocked roads. Additionally, he examined the Kupda Kunshala bridge and directed the appointment of a working agency to begin building right away. In the meantime, an alternative footpath will be arranged to restore movement.

Restoring Connectivity and Government Support

CM highlighted the importance of reopening the Yamunotri route for pilgrims as quickly as possible. He reassured residents that the government is standing by every affected family, and after assessing their losses, all possible help will be provided promptly.
