Lucknow: Along with strengthening the education system, the Yogi Adityanath government of Uttar Pradesh has announced two major decisions for the welfare of teachers and students. After the government and aided schools of the state, now the teachers of private schools are also being brought under the ambit of the ‘Chief Minister’s Teachers’ Cashless Medical Scheme’.
How will the scheme help?
With this step of the government, more than 3 lakh teachers teaching in about 35,000 private schools and their families will be able to get free treatment up to Rs 5 lakh annually. Along with this, preparations are also in the final stage to send an amount of Rs 1,200 each to the parents’ accounts of 10 lakh students of council schools for purchasing uniforms, bags and stationery through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT).
Will the details be entered on the portal?
To start the facility of cashless health service, Basic Education Director Anil Bhushan Chaturvedi has issued instructions to all the District Basic Education Officers of the state.
To take advantage of the scheme, teachers must register on the official portal (http://cmtcts-upsdc-gov-in). They must provide their own and their dependents’ details based on their identity cards and official documents.
Cashless treatment up to Rs 5 lakh?
A three-tier system has been established to verify the authenticity of applications received on the portal. First, the school headmaster will verify that the teacher is posted as per the rules and is providing continuous service. The application will then be sent to the relevant Block Education Officer (BEO). After receiving the BEO’s recommendation, the verification process will be completed upon final approval from the District Basic Education Officer (BSA). If a teacher leaves their job, the school administration must immediately inform them so that eligibility for the scheme can be revoked. This government initiative will enable more than 300,000 teachers teaching in approximately 35,000 private schools and their families to receive free medical treatment worth up to Rs 5 lakh annually.
Will DBT amount be transferred to the accounts of 10 lakh children?
In addition to ensuring the health of teachers, the state government is also addressing the basic needs of children attending council schools. Nearly 1 million students in primary and upper primary schools will receive Rs 1,200 each to purchase uniforms, shoes, socks, bags, and stationery. This money will be transferred directly to parents’ bank accounts.
It is noteworthy that out of the 1.35 crore students registered in the state’s council schools, approximately 1.10 crore children have already been given this amount. Now, data has been compiled for new enrollees and the remaining 10 lakh children left out due to technical reasons. Work is also progressing rapidly to link the bank accounts of the remaining 1.5 lakh students with Aadhaar so that they too can receive this amount soon after verification.
