The case is linked to an alleged demand for a total bribe of ₹14 lakh. Following the CBI’s action, it also searched the accused’s office and residence, where it reportedly recovered several important documents.

According to the CBI, an FIR was registered in the case on October 7, 2026. The sanitary inspector, posted with the Municipal Corporation, Chandigarh, allegedly demanded ₹14 lakh from the complainant’s firm in exchange for getting its pending and future bills approved and facilitating their payment. It is also alleged that the accused threatened to withhold the firm’s bills and cancel its tender if the bribe was not paid. After receiving the complaint, the CBI took the matter seriously and began preparations for a trap operation.

On October 7, the CBI team carried out a planned trap operation. During the operation, the sanitary inspector was allegedly caught red-handed while accepting ₹5 lakh in illegal gratification from the complainant. Following the CBI’s action, legal proceedings have been initiated against the accused in connection with the corruption case. After the arrest, the investigating agency also conducted searches at the accused’s premises.

Searches at Home and Office, Documents Recovered

The CBI conducted searches at the sanitary inspector’s residence and office premises. During the searches, important documents related to the investigation, along with documents concerning immovable properties, were reportedly recovered.

The investigating agency is now examining these documents to determine whether there is any connection between the alleged bribery transactions and the properties.

Accused to Be Produced in Court Today
