Baramulla: Earthquake tremors were felt in the Baramulla district of Jammu and Kashmir on Monday. These tremors were felt at various places in the Kashmir Valley. According to the Meteorological Center Srinagar, the earthquake occurred at 2 am late night, its epicenter was 10 kilometers below the ground.
When did the earthquake occur?
A mild earthquake struck Jammu and Kashmir’s Baramulla district early Monday morning. According to the National Center for Seismology (NCS), the quake measured 3.6 on the Richter scale. The earthquake struck around 2 am and its epicenter was 10 kilometers below the ground.
People immediately came out of their homes after feeling the earthquake. According to reports, there has been no news of any loss of life or damage to property due to the earthquake.
How was the impact of the earthquake?
The earthquake was felt in Baramulla and several other areas of the Kashmir Valley. The sudden tremor caused a brief panic among residents. Many people rushed out of their homes and buildings as a precaution. However, no damage to property or injuries were reported.
What did the NCS say?
The National Center for Seismology posted information about the earthquake on X. In February of this year, a 4.6 magnitude earthquake struck Baramulla district. The Pattan area was the epicenter, and tremors were felt across the valley. Kashmir is considered extremely seismically sensitive. The region lies in a highly seismic zone, where frequent tectonic plate movements cause earthquakes.
Earlier on July 9th, mild tremors were felt in the Marathwada region of Maharashtra early in the morning. The tremors were felt in Nanded, Hingoli, and Parbhani districts. The tremors were mild, but panicked residents rushed out of their homes.
