Delhi Court Acquits Ex-WFI Chief Brij Bhushan Singh In Women Wrestlers' Sexual Harassment Case

New Delhi: Former Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) chief  Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh on Monday was acquitted by the Delhi Court in the sexual harassment case filed by six women wrestlers. In another development, the Rouse Avenue Court has provided a huge relief to former WFI assistant secretary Vinod Tomar in the case as well.

What did the court say?

Former president of the Wrestling Federation of India (WFI), Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh and his co-accused Vinod Tomar have been found not guilty by the Rouse Avenue Court in Delhi in a case where women wrestlers had accused both of them of sexual harassment. 

Delhi’s Rouse Avenue Court’s Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate (ACJM) Ashwini Panwar handed down the verdict.

Note that this decision was reached following the arguments on July 2, 2026. At that time the order was reserved. This case, which started in January 2023, has already had 127 hearings, covering 1,133 days.

The court had earlier in May 2024, framed criminal intimidation charges against former BJP MP Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh. In a complaint filed by a female wrestler who was one of six complainants, however, he was acquitted.

What about the charges?

Delhi Police had in a charge sheet filed on June 15, charged Brij Bhushan under Indian Penal Code offences including “outraging the modesty of a woman,” sexual harassment, stalking and criminal intimidation of women. 

What did Brij Bhushan say?

After his acquittal, former president of WFI Brij Bhushan Singh said “Hoihi soi jo Ram rachi rakha”, which means what is meant to be will be, as destined by Lord Ram.
