New Delhi: In an ongoing campaign against criminals, the Outer North District Police have dealt a major blow to miscreants, illegal arms, and the drug trade by taking action on multiple fronts simultaneously. During a press conference at Delhi Police Headquarters, DCP Shobhit D. Saxena stated that police tracked down accused individuals after images of them brandishing illegal weapons on social media surfaced, while a cannabis smuggling network was exposed based on secret information. Simultaneously, the police cracked down on assets and cash generated from the drug trade, recovering lakhs of rupees in cash, gold, silver, and property documents. Additionally, the AATS team apprehended a proclaimed offender who had been absconding for a long time.
Displaying weapons on social media proves costly
The Outer North District AATS arrested two accused, Shankar and Roshan Jha, in connection with a case involving the brandishing of illegal weapons on social media. Two illegal weapons, a magazine, and six live cartridges were recovered based on their possession and disclosures.
According to the police, the AATS received information about an individual displaying an illegal weapon on social media. Following technical analysis and field verification, the accused was identified as Shankar (approx. 25 years old), son of Hari Prasad and a resident of Narela. When the team apprehended him, a country-made pistol and a live cartridge were recovered from his possession. A case (FIR No. 627/2026) was registered at Narela Police Station under the relevant sections of the Arms Act. During interrogation, Shankar revealed to the police that the weapon had been provided to him by Roshan Jha. Subsequently, the police apprehended Roshan Jha as well.
During interrogation, Roshan revealed that upon learning of Shankar’s arrest, he had hidden the remaining weapons and ammunition in the grass near the Chhota Kheda Cut (Sector-29, Rohini) along the Bawana-Badli canal. Acting on his information, the police recovered a packet from the spot containing a sophisticated pistol, a magazine, and five live 7.65mm cartridges.
A total of two illegal weapons, one magazine, and six live cartridges were seized during this operation.
According to the police, Shankar has a prior involvement in a theft case, whereas Roshan Jha faces four cases related to murder, robbery, and the Arms Act. He was also wanted in a case registered at the Samaypur Badli police station. The operation was conducted under the leadership of Inspector Anand Kumar Jha, In-charge of AATS (Outer North District). The team included ASI Naresh Kumar, ASI Azar Anwar, Head Constable Manjit Singh, Head Constable Sandeep, Constable Mayank, and Constable Manish. The operation was carried out under the supervision of ACP (Operations) Dinesh Kumar and the guidance of Additional DCP-I Lokeshwaran R.
Three smugglers arrested with over 25 kg of cannabis
In another major operation, the Narela Industrial Area police busted a cannabis smuggling network and arrested three accused. The police recovered a total of 25.444 kg of cannabis. The first operation took place on September 25. The police had received information that Naval Kishore was coming to supply cannabis near the A-Block bus stand in the JJ Colony, Bawana. Acting on this tip-off, a trap was laid, and the approximately 37-year-old Naval Kishore was apprehended along with his Honda Livo motorcycle.
A search of his blue bag revealed four packets containing a total of 10.670 kg of cannabis. A motorcycle, a mobile phone, and ₹340 in cash were also recovered from him. During interrogation, Naval Kishore revealed that he had purchased the cannabis from Shah Jamal, alias Fakira. Subsequently, on September 27, the police laid a trap near the canal area in Shivlok, JJ Colony, Bawana, and arrested Shah Jamal (alias Fakira) and his associate, Kapil, along with a Wagon-R car. A total of 14.774 kg of cannabis was seized from their possession.
Across both operations, the police recovered a total of 25.444 kg of cannabis, a Honda Livo motorcycle, a Wagon-R car, and mobile phones. The operation involved Head Constable Ashish Kumar, Head Constable Kali Charan, Constable Vikram, and Constable Ashwani. The team executed the operation under the supervision of ASI Balraj and the Station House Officer (SHO).
Police Seize Proceeds from Drug Trade
Taking action against the drug trade, the Anti-Narcotics Squad of the Outer North District recovered a significant cache of assets allegedly amassed through the sale of narcotics. The police seized ₹56,69,500 in cash, 355 grams of gold jewelry, 161 grams of silver jewelry, and four property-related documents. The matter is linked to FIR No. 617/2026 registered at the Narela Police Station. On September 23, the police had conducted a raid in New Sanoth Colony, Bawana, and arrested a female accused, Parvati, along with her alleged bodyguard, Vikas (alias Shanu). During that operation, the police recovered 939 grams of heroin, 615 grams of adulterated powder, and ₹7,93,170 in cash.
According to the police, interrogation revealed that Parvati had amassed these assets over a long period by supplying narcotics in the Bawana and Narela areas. Subsequently, on September 28, his house and locker were searched based on information provided by him. During the search, ₹56.69 lakh in cash, 355 grams of gold, 161 grams of silver, and property registration documents for four properties were recovered.
According to the police, the alleged supplier, Saheb Khan alias Sonu—a resident of Pratapgarh, Rajasthan—was also arrested in this case. Police stated that 265 grams of heroin were recovered from his possession. In the entire operation, the police seized a total of 1,204 kilograms of heroin, 615 grams of adulterated powder, and ₹64,62,670 in cash. Additionally, gold and silver jewelry, four property documents, a Tata Harrier, and a Swift car were confiscated. The Anti-Narcotics Squad team was led by Inspector Gaurav Chaudhary. The operation was conducted under the supervision of the ACP (Operations) and the overall direction of the Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) for the Outer North District.
Absconding Offender Also Apprehended
As part of the crackdown on criminals, the AATS (Anti-Auto Theft Squad) team dedicated to apprehending proclaimed offenders achieved a major success. The team arrested Joginder alias Chachi, a resident of Mangolpuri, who had been absconding for a long time. Joginder, aged approximately 25, had been declared a proclaimed offender by the court in connection with a 2018 case registered at the Mangolpuri police station. According to the police, two other cases had previously been registered against him.
His location was traced through technical surveillance and continuous field verification, leading to his arrest. This operation was executed by the ‘Proclaimed Offender’ staff under the leadership of Inspector Anand Kumar Jha, the AATS In-charge for the Outer North District. The team included ASI Sandeep and Head Constable Abhishek Khatri.
Four Fronts, One Message: A Crackdown on Crime
These distinct operations in the Outer North District illustrate the comprehensive scope of police action. Whether it involved the display of illegal weapons on social media, arms supply, drug trafficking, assets allegedly amassed through narcotics, or court-declared absconders, the police took action across multiple fronts. The police state that investigations are ongoing into the sources and supply chains of the illegal weapons, as well as potential links to narcotics networks and assets acquired through criminal activity. Further legal action will be taken based on the facts that emerge during the investigation.
