CM Nitish Kumar announces 'Chief Minister Women Employment Scheme'

Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Friday shared that the government has approved a new plan called the Chief Minister Women’s Employment Scheme. This scheme will support women by giving financial help so that one woman from each family can begin work of her own choice. In a post on X, the CM said that women will first get ₹10,000 as initial support, and the Rural Development Department along with the Urban Development and Housing Department will manage the application process.

Focus on Women’s Empowerment

Nitish Kumar mentioned that since his government took charge in November 2005, many big steps have been taken to strengthen women and make them independent. He added that women’s hard work is not only helping in Bihar’s development but is also improving their families’ financial condition. Keeping this goal in mind, the government has now approved this new scheme which, according to him, will bring long-term positive results for women in the state.

Financial Support and Application Process

Under this scheme, one woman in every family will receive ₹10,000 as the first payment to begin employment of her choice. The application process will be started soon. The Rural Development Department will take the lead in setting up the system, while the Urban Development and Housing Department will give support wherever needed. The CM also stated that after six months of starting the work, an assessment will be done, and depending on the requirement, women may receive further help of up to ₹2 lakh.

Future Plans for Women’s Work

The Chief Minister added that from September 2025, the transfer of funds to women’s bank accounts will start. To encourage women’s products, haat markets will be created across villages, towns, and cities to sell items made by them. Kumar expressed confidence that this scheme will not only make women stronger but will also create more job opportunities within Bihar. This will also reduce the need for people to leave the state in search of work.
