New Delhi. A new twist has emerged in the controversy surrounding Virat Kohli’s Instagram account. German influencer and singer Lizellez has claimed that certain journalists allegedly offered her money to level false accusations against Kohli. Lizellez—who suddenly shot to social media prominence after a post of hers was “liked” by Kohli’s account—stated that she refused to tarnish the cricketer’s reputation for the sake of publicity or financial gain.
Money Was Offered
In an interview with FilmyMantra Media, Lizellez alleged that journalists had reached out to her, seeking to elicit false statements regarding Kohli. She remarked, “Some journalists even offered me money to speak ill of Virat Kohli and level accusations against him, but why would I do such a thing?”
Virat Is a Favorite Cricketer
Lizellez also clarified that she had no intention of targeting Kohli. She considers him to be one of her favorite cricketers. “I would never do something like that for publicity or money,” she asserted. The influencer further revealed that she became aware of the incident only after she began receiving a barrage of calls and messages on her phone. “I found out when people started calling me. I hadn’t even noticed it in my notifications,” she said.
Screenshots Go Viral
The entire controversy erupted when an old post featuring German-South African influencer Lizellez and photographer Advait Vaidya was “liked” by Virat Kohli’s Instagram account. The post instantly went viral. Notably, Kohli did not follow the influencer in question. Within minutes, screenshots of the post began circulating widely across social media platforms. Fans jokingly recalled the “algorithm” explanation Kohli had previously offered during a similar controversy involving influencer Avneet Kaur in 2025.

Virat Kohli is currently playing in the 2026 edition of the Indian Premier League.
