New Delhi: Famous rapper and singer Yo Yo Honey Singh is once again in controversy. On Friday, he appeared before the Maharashtra Cyber Cell for allegedly making objectionable remarks during a live concert in Delhi. The officers interrogated him for about two hours and recorded his statement. After completion of the interrogation, Honey Singh came out of the cyber cell office amid security. This case is related to his comment made in one of the concerts regarding the cold of Delhi and intimacy in the car, which was criticised a lot on social media.
Why did Maharashtra Cyber Cell interrogate Honey Singh?
According to the report of news agency ANI, Honey Singh reached the Maharashtra Cyber Cell office on Friday, where the officials questioned him for about two hours. This action was taken following a complaint lodged regarding alleged objectionable remarks during a concert.
Earlier too, summons had been sent to him by the Cyber Cell to appear before him in the case. The rapper recorded his statement after appearing before the authorities. At present, no final information has been revealed regarding further action based on the inquiry.
Why was Honey Singh not present?
According to the report, Maharashtra Cyber Cell had issued summons to Honey Singh thrice for questioning in the case. However, he did not appear on the earlier scheduled dates. It was said on his part that he would not be able to appear because he was abroad.

It was told that after not appearing on October 5, he had sought additional time from the authorities. On the other hand, senior Cyber Cell officials had warned that in case they did not appear on the scheduled date, issuing a Lookout Circular (LOC) could be considered against them. Later Honey Singh appeared before the authorities and recorded his statement.
What did Honey Singh say in the Delhi concert?
The controversy started during a live concert in Delhi in January. In the programme, Honey Singh had allegedly made objectionable remarks linking Delhi’s cold and intimacy in a car. After this, his statement started being criticised on social media and the matter gained momentum.
After a complaint was registered regarding the comment, the cyber cell started investigating the matter. This incident once again sparked debate on the language of artists and their responsibilities in public forums.
What clarification did Honey Singh give?
After the controversy, Honey Singh had clarified his remarks and apologised. He had said that keeping in mind the young audience present in the programme, especially Generation Z, he had tried to convey the message in their language. However, he had no idea that his words might make some people feel bad.
He had also apologised to the people hurt by his remarks. Now after recording his statement before Maharashtra Cyber Cell, the investigation of the case can proceed further. For now, it remains to be seen what further steps the investigating agency takes.
