New Delhi: Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta visited Khera Kalan village in Outer Delhi on Sunday and listened to the 139th episode of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s monthly radio programme, Mann Ki Baat, alongside local residents. During the interaction, she reaffirmed the government’s commitment to improving infrastructure and ensuring that development reaches every village in the national capital.
The programme was held at the municipal councillor’s office, where residents and public representatives gathered to hear the Prime Minister’s address. Gupta said Mann Ki Baat serves as an important platform for highlighting inspiring initiatives from across the country and encouraging public participation in nation-building.
She noted that the programme brings attention to the contributions of ordinary citizens, social organisations and communities, motivating others to work towards positive change.
Over ₹400 Crore in Development Projects in Narela
Gupta said the government was working to address longstanding problems in Delhi’s villages, including damaged roads, drinking water shortages, inadequate sewerage systems, poor street lighting and limited bus services.
She highlighted that development projects worth more than ₹400 crore had been undertaken in the Narela Assembly constituency. Initiatives related to road construction, water supply and sewer pipeline infrastructure are aimed at improving living conditions in rural areas.
The Chief Minister said she understood the concerns and aspirations of rural families, describing herself as a daughter of a village. She added that the government was committed to resolving local issues through planned development and providing village residents with facilities comparable to those available in urban neighbourhoods.
Development to Reach Every Village in Delhi
Gupta stressed that no part of the capital should be left behind in the development process. She said the remaining 48 villages in Delhi had also been urbanised, and the government would continue expanding essential infrastructure, including roads, water supply, sewerage and street lighting.
Referring to the contributions of Maharishi Valmiki, the Chief Minister also called for efforts to connect younger generations with Indian culture and the ideals of great historical figures.
She urged residents to actively participate in keeping Delhi clean and supporting its development. Member of Parliament Yogendra Chandolia, MLA Raj Karan Khatri and several other public representatives and local residents attended the programme.
