Hisar: The district administration is stepping up efforts to expand apprenticeship opportunities for ITI graduates and bring more small and medium-sized businesses under government support schemes.

Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Shalini Chetal reviewed the implementation of apprenticeship programmes and the e-Udyam portal during a meeting with officials at the Video Conferencing Hall of the Mini Secretariat on Friday. She directed departments to ensure effective implementation of both initiatives.

Apprenticeship to Strengthen Job-Ready Skills

Chetal said apprenticeships play an important role in giving ITI-qualified candidates practical experience required for employment. She stressed the need to bring more industrial units, institutions and organisations into the apprenticeship system.

She also called for better utilisation of workplace training facilities in industries so that young people can gain practical skills while improving their chances of securing jobs.

Officials informed the meeting that institutions failing to comply with the provisions of the Apprentices Act, 1961, can face penalties ranging from ₹500 to ₹3,000.

How Will Authorities Ensure Compliance?

The ADC directed officials to monitor the entire apprenticeship process through an automated portal. Institutions found violating the prescribed rules will be issued show-cause notices, and their accountability will be fixed.

The meeting also reviewed the progress of the National Apprenticeship Promotion Scheme (NAPS). Officials were asked to strengthen its digital processes, covering registration, vacancy details, candidate selection, contract approval, training, stipend payments and certificate issuance.

Chetal emphasised that training arrangements and stipend payments should be streamlined to ensure that more eligible young people benefit from the scheme.

E-Udyam Registration to Connect MSMEs With Government Schemes

The ADC also reviewed registrations on the e-Udyam portal and stressed the need to bring more micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in the district onto the platform.

Officials explained that registration can help eligible businesses access various Central and state government schemes, subsidies, credit facilities and benefits related to tenders.

To increase registrations, special camps will be organised through the MSME Department, allowing eligible industrial units to complete the process.

Job Fair to Feature Registered Industries

Industries registered on the e-Udyam portal will also be encouraged to set up stalls at upcoming job fairs. The initiative is expected to help young jobseekers interact directly with private-sector companies and explore employment opportunities.

Chetal instructed officials to regularly review activities related to both apprenticeship programmes and the e-Udyam portal. She also called for stronger coordination between industries and young people to ensure that the benefits of these initiatives reach their intended beneficiaries.

SDM Jyoti Mittal, Zila Parishad CEO Subhash Chandra and officials from the concerned departments attended the meeting.
