Vrindavan: With the number of devotees visiting Vrindavan rising during the holy month of Kartik and major festivals approaching, local police have stepped up security across the temple town. An intensive checking campaign is underway at key intersections, roads and crowded locations to ensure public safety and maintain law and order.
The drive is being conducted on the instructions of the Senior Superintendent of Police, with officers keeping a close watch on suspicious individuals and vehicles. Police personnel are also checking two-wheelers and advising motorists to follow traffic regulations.
Security Increased Around Major Temples
Large numbers of devotees from different parts of India, along with a significant number of foreign visitors, are arriving in Vrindavan during Kartik. With Diwali and other important festivals approaching, police have increased surveillance in areas expected to witness heavy footfall.
Under the direction of Kotwali in-charge Ashwini Kumar, police teams are conducting checks at prominent crossings and busy roads. Motorists are being urged to follow traffic rules and report any suspicious activity to the authorities.
Special instructions have also been issued to police post in-charges to maintain regular patrolling around major religious destinations, including Banke Bihari Temple, ISKCON Temple, Prem Mandir, Rangji Temple and the Parikrama Marg.
Why Has Police Increased Patrolling During Kartik?
Police have identified the possibility of chain, mobile phone and purse snatching as a key concern in crowded areas. According to the report, motorcycle-borne gangs have previously taken advantage of heavy crowds to target devotees and escape quickly.
Several such incidents have reportedly been reported in recent months. Keeping these concerns in mind, police have intensified vehicle checks and foot patrols as a preventive measure.
Focus on Safe Movement During the Festive Season
Police teams are regularly visiting crowded areas to assess security arrangements and monitor movement around temples. The objective is to prevent criminal activities, maintain order and ensure that devotees can visit religious sites without unnecessary inconvenience during the festive period.
