New Delhi: In a major achievement, the Anti-Human Trafficking Unit (AHTU) of Delhi Police’s North-West District has traced and safely recovered 205 missing children in just seven months, helping reunite them with their families. The achievement includes cases where children were found within hours of being reported missing, as well as those who had remained untraced for five to six years.

The remarkable results were achieved through the dedicated efforts of Assistant Sub-Inspector Shankar Lal Rar and Head Constable Ratan Singh, whose persistence, investigative skills and sensitivity played a crucial role in the operation.

Of the 205 children recovered, 51 were boys and 154 were girls. Behind these figures are numerous families who had spent months and years waiting for their children to return.

How Did the AHTU Team Solve Both Recent and Years-Old Cases?

The team’s efficiency was particularly evident in five cases where missing children were traced and safely recovered within just one to two hours of receiving complaints or reports.

Police personnel acted promptly after receiving information and coordinated their efforts to locate the children as quickly as possible. Their timely intervention helped bring relief to families during critical situations.

The team also achieved success in cases that had remained unresolved for five to six years. Instead of allowing these investigations to lose momentum, officers revisited old records, examined available clues and pursued fresh leads to establish the whereabouts of the missing children.

Two Officers, One Mission and 205 Successful Recoveries

ASI Shankar Lal Rar and Head Constable Ratan Singh remained committed to the mission throughout the seven-month period. They approached the search for missing children not merely as an official responsibility but as an important humanitarian duty.

Their efforts helped several families reunite with children they had not seen for years. The achievement also highlights the importance of sustained investigation, patience and timely action in missing-child cases.

The operation was carried out under the leadership of Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Akanksha Yadav. The North-West District Police’s achievement reinforces Delhi Police’s commitment to child safety, protection and the recovery of every missing child.
