Punjab Flood Relief: The flood waters in Punjab may have receded, but relief work is now moving at full speed towards recovery and restoration. Instead of just giving orders, the Aam Aadmi Party government has started a special health campaign from September 14, getting down to the ground. Which reaches 2303 flood-affected villages. The people of the state say that for the first time there is a government that is performing its duties not with orders but with a spirit of service. Where earlier people used to go to hospitals to get medicines. Now the government is reaching their doorsteps with doctors and medical teams. Complete preparations have been made to prevent disease by providing health facilities to every home, every village.
Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann
Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann is personally monitoring this campaign. Cabinet ministers, MLAs, district in-charges and party representatives are present at every level. In every village, Aam Aadmi Party leaders and volunteers are standing with the health teams because this is not only an opportunity for relief but also an opportunity for public service.
Special health camp
If the situation in villages is not normal, then schools, panchayat bhawans or anganwadi centres have been converted into temporary medical centres. Health camps run from morning to evening and teams of doctors, nurses, pharmacists and medical students are present. Essential medicines, ORS, Dettol, fever tablets, malaria-dengue test kits and first aid material are available in each camp. ASHA workers are visiting every house and asking about the health condition. If necessary, they are taking the people to the doctor and giving medicines. If a child is ill, an elderly person has fever or a woman feels weak, then treatment is no longer a matter of waiting. The government has decided that by September 20, it will definitely reach every house at least once and this work is being done without stopping even on Sundays.
Malaria‑Dengue Control and Fogging Preparations
Continuous fogging is being done in every village for the next 21 days. Teams are monitoring water sources. Wherever malaria or dengue is suspected, spraying is being done immediately. The medical officer of every block is responsible and the complete report is uploaded online every evening.
More than 550 ambulances are engaged in this service campaign. Storage of 85 medicines and 23 medical useful items has already been ensured. MBBS doctors, nursing staff and pharmacy staff of big hospitals are fully active in this campaign. All departments have been instructed not to let this campaign get disrupted in any way and there should be no shortage of resources or staff.
Public response
The public is saying that this is the real government. Not just a sham but a concrete example of real service. The Aam Aadmi Party government has gained trust by providing relief, sanitation and health services by reaching village to village, street to street, house to house. This work, which is going on continuously under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, is showing that the government stands with the spirit of service and is at the forefront when the public needs it.
