Bihar Politics: In view of the Bihar Assembly elections, Leader of Opposition and RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav made a big election announcement on Wednesday, saying that if the Grand Alliance government is formed, all the ‘Jeevika CM Didi’ working in the state will be made permanent government employees with a monthly salary of Rs 30,000.
At a press conference in Patna, Tejashwi said that the women in the Jeevika group have been raising their voices about their plight for years, but the government has yet to address them. He said that if his government is formed, Jeevika sisters will be given government status and receive a respectable salary.
Announcement regarding contract employees
Tejashwi Yadav also made an important announcement regarding contract employees. He stated that all contract employees will be made permanent and receive all the benefits of government services. Pointing out the problems faced by contract employees, he said that their services are terminated without prior notice and GST is deducted from their salaries, which is unfair. Women employees are denied even leave, which the Grand Alliance government will eliminate.
Other promises made by Tejashwi Yadav include:
1. Interest on loans given to Jeevika Didis will be waived.
2. Interest-free loans will be provided for two years.
3. They will receive an additional allowance of ₹2,000 per month for participation in other government functions.
4. Each Jeevika Didi will receive insurance coverage of ₹5 lakh.
5. Education, training, and income-related benefits will be provided under the “Beti Aur Maa” scheme.
Tejashwi also reiterated that if the Grand Alliance government is formed, at least one person from every family will be given a government job. He assured that a new law will be enacted to implement this scheme within 20 days of government formation, and that it will be fully implemented within 20 months.
