New Delhi: The Supreme Court lashed out at the National Testing Agency on Friday, stressing accountability for the lapses in the NEET-UG paper leak issue. A bench comprising of Justices P S Narasimha and Alok Aradhe said that “We should not disappoint our youngsters.”

The Top court on Friday said that the situation was “actually very traumatic” not only for the students but for their families as well if something like this happened.

The court also directed to replace or restructure the National Testing Agency (NTA) with a robust and autonomous body to conduct the medical entrance examination.
What did the court say about UPSC?
The bench asked the NTA to learn from how the UPSC exams are conducted. “UPSC has never been a situation, you need to learn,” it said.
What did the Centre say?
The Centre informed the Supreme Court that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is personally supervising the re-examination process of National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) UG after the recent paper leak.
“Prime minister is personally supervising so that there is no lacunae,” Solicitor General Tushar Mehta told Supreme Court during the hearing on NEET paper leak.
