Mohali. The Mohali Police, under the jurisdiction of the Phase-1 Police Station, have arrested three accused individuals, thereby solving a robbery case that took place at a jewelry workshop located in the Industrial Area, Phase-8. Two other accused persons involved in this case remain at large. On April 8, five unidentified individuals carried out a robbery at the workshop of Kundan Lights and Gold Jewelry Private Limited, situated at Plot Number F-19, Industrial Area Phase-8, Sector-72. The accused looted artificial display jewelry (samples), approximately 400–500 grams of silver ornaments, and the DVR of the CCTV cameras.
SP (City) Dilpreet Singh stated that, according to the FIR lodged by the complainant, Karanvir Singh Gosal, one of the accused remained seated in a car during the incident, another stood guard near the gate, while three of the accused entered the workshop. They first crossed the main gate and then gained entry by breaking the lock of the glass door. All the accused had their faces covered with cloth and were armed with weapons such as sickles, knives, and iron rods.
Upon entering, the accused demanded the keys to the safe and cash from Karanvir Singh. When he refused, the accused assaulted him. Subsequently, the accused attempted to open the safe; however, failing to do so, they fled the scene, taking with them the artificial jewelry displayed on the counters, some silver ornaments, and the CCTV DVR.
The police arrested the accused, Vinay Sharma—a resident of Sector-38C, Chandigarh—along with the car used in the crime. Suraj Prakash and Sanjit Kumar—both residents of Sector-56, Chandigarh—were arrested along with an Activa scooter. During interrogation, acting on the information provided by the accused, the stolen jewelry was recovered; it had been hidden near the wall of a room situated opposite the WWICS company in Phase-6, Mohali.
According to the police, two other accused individuals involved in this case—identified as Peter and Janul—are currently absconding, and raids are underway to effect their arrest. The police state that both accused individuals will also be apprehended soon.
