Rahul Gandhi’s Car Hits Bihar Policeman During 'Voter Yatra', Driver Booked

An FIR has been filed against the driver of Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s vehicle after a police constable was hit in Bihar’s Nawada district during the ‘Voter Adhikar Yatra,’ officials said on Thursday. The incident happened on Tuesday when Rahul Gandhi’s convoy was passing through Bhagat Singh Chowk. The constable fell in front of the vehicle and sustained injuries.

Nawada Superintendent of Police (SP) Abhinav Dhiman confirmed the FIR, saying, “Yes, a case has been registered against the driver. More details will be shared later.” He added that the constable had tripped in front of the convoy vehicle, which “barely touched his feet.”

BJP Criticism and Viral Footage

Following the incident, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) criticized Rahul Gandhi. BJP spokesperson Shehzad Poonawalla shared a video on X showing a car carrying Gandhi running over a police constable. The footage showed the officer limping, and it quickly went viral on social media. Poonawalla claimed, “Rahul Gandhi’s car crushed a police constable who was seriously injured. He did not even get down to check on him.”

Rahul Gandhi Assists Injured Officer

Contrary to these claims, Gandhi was later seen helping the injured officer. Video footage showed him stopping his vehicle, asking his supporters to bring the constable to his open jeep, offering him water, and making him sit inside as the yatra continued.
