New Delhi: Some relief from the heat and humidity for the people of Delhi as the morning in the capital, once again started with rain. It continued to rain in many areas of the city, which increased the problems for those going out early in the morning. The Meteorological Department has issued an orange alert for Delhi, Gurugram and Faridabad whereas a yellow alert for Noida and Ghaziabad. The department says that there may be good rain throughout the day.

Where has there been water since morning?

The rain had started early in the morning. Its effect was first visible on the streets. New Delhi Railway Station, Munirka and surrounding areas were flooded. Office going people had to face both jams and waterlogging.

Did Wednesday’s rain also increase the problems?

This rain has come after heavy rain a day earlier. Due to torrential rains on Wednesday, roads in many parts of Delhi-NCR were submerged, traffic came to a standstill and flood-like conditions were created at many places. During this time, a building in Rohini also collapsed. 1 person died in the accident. The rescue team pulled out many people trapped under the debris. Gurugram was the most affected. More than 115 mm of rain was recorded here in just 33 hours. Roads became ponds and there was a long traffic jam across the city.

What appeal did the companies make?

Even on the Delhi-Gurugram Expressway, vehicles were moving slowly due to waterlogging. To reduce the traffic jam, Gurugram Police have appealed to the companies to allow their employees to work from home for the next few days. At the same time, a part near Narsinghpur on NH-48 i.e. Delhi-Jaipur Highway caved in due to rain. 2 lanes of the highway have been closed. The administration has asked people to walk carefully on this route or choose another route.

How will the weather be in future?


According to IMD, intermittent rains will continue in Delhi, Haryana, Chandigarh and Western UP till July 10. There are chances of heavy rain in eastern UP till July 13 and in eastern Rajasthan till July 9. The department says that continuous rain will provide relief from the humidity of the previous days. Delhi’s temperature was recorded at 25.8 degrees at 2.30 am on Thursday.

What arrangements did the Center make?

The central government also reviewed the monsoon. It was told in the meeting that the rain deficiency in the country has now reduced to 12%. There has been more rainfall than normal in the first week of July. Kharif crop and the impact of El Niño were also discussed in the meeting chaired by PM’s principal secretary, PK Mishra. The government said that El Niño years do not always result in less rainfall and this time the monsoon is going well.
