New Delhi: Asaram Bapu, who is serving a life term in the Jodhpur minor rape case, has not been granted interim bail by the Supreme Court. The top court declined to provide immediate relief on health grounds but kept his petition pending, allowing him to seek interim bail again if his medical condition worsens.

A bench comprising Justices MM Sundresh and PB Varale stated that Asaram does not need to be hospitalized, but he will require continuous medical care.

According to Solicitor General Tushar Mehta, who was representing the government of Rajasthan, Asaram had hidden the fact that he was on interim bail while requesting 20 days’ parole from the High Court. Presently, Asaram has been granted 20 days’ parole from the High Court. In the last hearing regarding the interim bail application, the Supreme Court asked for a detailed medical report from AIIMS to pass an order regarding Asaram Bapu’s bail application.
