Chandigarh: Reiterating its commitment to providing world-class early childhood care and quality education to the children of the state, the Punjab Government, led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, has completed the construction of 892 modern Anganwadi Centers across the state.

The government said that the remaining 132 centres are in the final stage of construction and will soon be dedicated to children across the state.

Punjab’s Social Security, Women and Child Development Minister Dr. Baljit Kaur on Thursday stated that child-friendly infrastructure is being rapidly expanded in the state. In this regard, 132 more Anganwadi Centers are in the final stages of construction, ensuring that every child in Punjab has access to a safe, modern, and quality early childhood education environment and play-based learning opportunities comparable to those in high-end private schools.

While sharing information, Baljit Kaur said that the Punjab government had set a target of building 1,024 new Anganwadi centers across the state. Of these, 892 centers have been completed, while the remaining 132 are in the final stages. These will be completed soon and dedicated to the state’s children.

The Punjab’s Women and Child Development Minister said that under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, our government is committed to ensuring that every child, regardless of their economic background, has access to quality early childhood education, a conducive environment, and play-based learning opportunities comparable to those found in expensive private schools. Funding will not be a barrier to these initiatives to ensure a bright future for Punjab’s children.
The minister further said that these centres will also play an important role in tackling malnutrition, improving the health of children and promoting their physical and intellectual development.
What did Baljit share about newly built Anganwadi Centres?
Baljit Kaur stated that all new Anganwadi centers are being developed in accordance with established quality standards. Special attention is being paid to safe, child-friendly, and inclusive infrastructure. Under Mission Saksham, Rs 10 lakh has been allocated for each Anganwadi center to provide adequate seating arrangements, clean and safe drinking water, modern sanitation facilities, and a learning environment conducive to the overall development of children.
Further sharing, she said that the Punjab Government remains steadfast in its commitment to laying a strong foundation for the future by investing in world-class early childhood care and quality education for children. These modern Anganwadi centers will ensure that every child receives a nurturing environment and grows into a healthy, confident, and responsible citizen.
