Hisar: Bajrang Garg, national working president of Agroha Dham Vaishya Samaj and state president of the Haryana Pradesh Vyapar Mandal, has called on the government to establish a Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGI) in the name of Maharaja Agrasen. He also demanded that Maharaja Agrasen Jayanti be declared a national festival and urged authorities to expedite the proposed Hisar-Fatehabad-Sirsa railway line project.
Garg was addressing representatives of Agroha Dham Vaishya Samaj during a meeting held in Barwala under his chairmanship. He outlined several demands concerning healthcare, infrastructure, regional development and the promotion of Maharaja Agrasen’s ideals.
Why Is a PGI Needed in Western Haryana?
Garg said people from Bhiwani and other parts of western Haryana often have to travel to major cities to access advanced medical facilities. Establishing a PGI named after Maharaja Agrasen would improve healthcare access for residents of Sirsa, Fatehabad and neighbouring districts.
He added that such an institution would also benefit millions of people from Punjab and Rajasthan by providing better medical treatment facilities.
Railway Connectivity Between Hisar, Fatehabad and Sirsa
Garg expressed concern over the delay in implementing the proposed railway connectivity between Hisar, Fatehabad and Sirsa. He said the approximately 93-kilometre Hisar-Sirsa railway line had received approval in the Union Budget, but work on the ground was yet to begin.
He pointed out that several Union Railway Ministers had announced the proposed railway connection during Agroha Dham fairs. However, he said the government should move beyond announcements and take immediate steps to complete the project.
According to Garg, the railway line would strengthen trade, industry and agriculture while creating employment opportunities across the three districts. It would also improve transportation facilities and open new possibilities for traders and industrialists.
Maharaja Agrasen Jayanti Should Be a National Festival
Garg urged the Central Government to recognise Maharaja Agrasen Jayanti as a national festival, stating that Maharaja Agrasen’s contribution and ideals extend beyond any particular community.
He highlighted the principles of equality, brotherhood, service, cooperation and support for economically weaker sections associated with Maharaja Agrasen’s reign.
He said these values remain relevant today and could help reduce social and economic inequalities if financially capable members of society actively support underprivileged families in education, healthcare, employment and other essential areas.
Demand for Institutions in Maharaja Agrasen’s Name
Garg further demanded that the government establish educational institutions, hospitals, universities and research centres named after Maharaja Agrasen.
He said special programmes were being organised across the country to connect the younger generation with Maharaja Agrasen’s life and teachings. According to him, promoting these ideals could encourage greater social responsibility and community development.
Several representatives attended the meeting, including Agarwal Sangathan president Bajrang Jain, patron Ishwar Chand Lohia, vice-president Vinod Mittal, Kailash Bagri, Jai Bhagwan Bansal, Mannu Goyal, Anil Tayal, Ajay Bansal, Radheshyam Singla, Raj Khediwala, Sanjay Garg, Vipin Garg, Jaiprakash Garg, Amit Goyal, Virendra Gupta and state organisation secretary Rajendra Bansal, along with other members.
