Patna: In a major administrative shake-up, the Bihar government has transferred 50 senior officers across the Indian Administrative Service (IAS) and Indian Police Service (IPS), signalling a significant restructuring of the bureaucracy and law enforcement apparatus.
How many IAS officers are transferred?
The General Administration Department of the Bihar government has transferred 21 IAS officers in a major administrative reshuffle. A notification has been issued for the new postings. The order replaces the district magistrates of several districts, including Patna, Bhagalpur, Muzaffarpur, and Nalanda.
New appointments have also been made at the top level of several important departments.
Under this major administrative reshuffle, 2012 batch IAS officer Kundan Kumar has been appointed as the new Collector and District Magistrate of the capital, Patna. Earlier, he was posted as DM of Nalanda (Bihar Sharif). Whereas the outgoing District Magistrate of Patna, Tyagarajan S.M. (2011 batch), has been appointed as Chairman of the Bihar School Examination Board (BSEB), Patna. Tyagarajan will also hold the additional charge of Special Secretary of the Health Department.
Jehanabad’s District Magistrate Alankrita Pandey (2016 batch) has now been made the new DM of Bhagalpur. In her place, Special Secretary of the Health Department, Chiring Y. Bhutia (2013 batch), has been appointed as the new District Magistrate of Jehanabad.
Muzaffarpur’s DM Subrata Kumar Sen has been sent to the post of Managing Director of the Bihar Medical Services and Infrastructure Corporation Limited (BMICL). While in his place, Additional Executive Director of State Health Committee Kumar Gaurav (2017 batch) has been given the command of DM of Muzaffarpur.
Dharmendra Kumar became the chairman of the Bridge Construction Corporation, and the captains of these districts also changed.
Rohtas (Sasaram) DM Udita Singh has been made the new DM of Nalanda. Deepak Kumar Mishra, Joint Secretary of the Chief Minister’s Secretariat, has been appointed as the new District Magistrate of Rohtas. Inspector General of Registration-cum-Product Commissioner Anshul Agarwal has been made the DM of Banka. While COMFED Managing Director Sameer Saurav has been given the responsibility of District Magistrate of Gopalganj.
Saurabh Suman Yadav, Director of Agriculture for East Champaran and Khagaria, has been appointed the new District Magistrate of East Champaran (Motihari). Vikram Virkar, Director of Primary Education, will now be the new District Magistrate of Khagaria. Dharmendra Kumar, Director (Social Security) (2013 batch), has been transferred and appointed Chairman of the Bihar State Bridge Construction Corporation Limited, Patna. Saurabh Jorwal, the outgoing District Magistrate of East Champaran, has been appointed Managing Director of the South Bihar Power Distribution Company Limited (SBPDCL).
What about other departments?
In this reshuffle, Anand Kishore has now been appointed as the full-time Additional Chief Secretary of the Environment, Forest and Climate Change Department. Robert L. Chongyu, Principal Secretary of the Minority Welfare Department, has been appointed Principal Secretary of the Parliamentary Affairs Department. Mohammad Sohail, Secretary of the General Administration Department, has been given the additional charge of Secretary of the Minority Welfare Department.
Outgoing Khagaria District Magistrate Naveen Kumar has been appointed Special Secretary in the Prohibition, Excise, and Registration Department. He will also hold the additional charge of Secretary-in-Charge of the Information and Public Relations Department (IPRD) and MD of Bihar State Beverages Corporation Limited.
This notification, signed by Siddheshwar Choudhary, Under Secretary of the General Administration Department, has been implemented with immediate effect.
