Job seekers in Bihar staged a protest on Monday in Patna, demanding that the government announce a date for the constable recruitment exam. The protesters broke through security barriers, leading the police to use a baton-charge to control the crowd. The demonstrators, holding placards, gathered near the Dak Bunglow crossing and shouted slogans against the authorities. They wanted information on the total number of vacancies and the schedule for the Bihar Police constable recruitment.
Police Response to Protesters
Patna SSP Kartikeya K Sharma told the media, “A large number of protesters assembled at Dak Bunglow crossing, disrupting traffic. They crossed the police barricades and came close to the Kotwali Police station, which is a restricted area.” He added, “We asked them to leave as the protest was causing heavy traffic congestion. When they ignored our warnings, the police had to resort to baton-charge to disperse the crowd.”
Injuries Reported Among Protesters
The job seekers said that several of them were hurt during the baton-charge by the police while trying to press their demands.
