In Samastipur, a coriander trader’s wife was killed with an iron rod after a robbery inside her home in broad daylight. The incident occurred just 20 metres away from the police station. The whole event took place near the Market Committee area under Mathurapur police station of the district, where the coriander trader had been living with his wife for the past 15 years.

On Sunday, when he left home after bathing to collect dues from another trader, the incident took place. When he returned, he found his wife’s body lying there. Meanwhile, the police, who arrived after receiving information, are engaged in investigating the case.

Victim Identified; Husband Alleges Loot of Rs 6 Lakh

The deceased elderly woman has been identified as 65-year-old Tufa Biswas, wife of Bimal Biswas, a resident of Nadia district in West Bengal. According to the deceased’s husband, there was ₹6 lakh kept in the house. “Today I had gone to collect dues from other traders. When I returned, her body was lying there. She was brutally murdered during the robbery. It appears that she was hit on the head with a rod, and the money kept in the house was also taken away,” he said.

He has been living in Samastipur near the Market Committee for about 15 years, engaged in the coriander business. According to the police who reached the spot, the elderly woman was murdered during a robbery. An iron rod was recovered from near the body. Police are investigating every aspect of the case. The woman is said to be originally from West Bengal, while her husband has been doing the coriander business in Samastipur.
