New Delhi: The effects of Cyclone ‘Arnab’ formed in the Bay of Bengal have started becoming visible. Between 11 pm and 1 am, the storm made landfall on the coast of North Andhra Pradesh and South Odisha, after which many areas are receiving torrential rains along with strong winds. Life is disrupted due to bad weather and the administration has started taking precautions at many places.
What changed due to the storm in Odisha?
Schools have been closed in 10 districts of South Odisha. About 5 thousand people have been shifted to safe places. Four bridges in Malkangiri have been submerged in water, due to which traffic has come to a standstill. In view of safety, movement of vehicles has also been stopped on some national highways. There is news of about 10 fishermen’s boats sinking and many boats breaking due to strong winds in Bhadrak district. At the same time, many boats have been damaged due to strong winds in Chilka Lake area.
In which areas was the red and orange alert issued?
The weather department has issued red alert for Nabarangpur. More than 20 cm of rain may occur here. Apart from this, there is orange alert in Bargarh, Nuapada, Balangir, Kalahandi, Koraput and Malkangiri. The administration has appealed to the people not to come out of the house until the weather clears and to remain alert in the alert areas.
