New Delhi: As November begins, the weather in the national capital, Delhi, has started to shift. With the departure of the summer heat, winter is gradually setting in. A light chill in the morning and colder temperatures at night are giving residents a taste of the winter season, while the sun remains quite warm during the afternoon. This change in weather is a clear indication that Delhiites should prepare for colder days ahead.

According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), maximum temperatures recorded at five weather stations in Delhi on November 3 ranged between 27.4°C and 29.1°C, while minimum temperatures hovered between 16.1°C and 16.9°C. Data shows that while maximum temperatures were below normal, minimum temperatures at most stations remained above normal. This suggests that daytime temperatures have begun to drop, though the full intensity of the winter chill has yet to arrive.

Cool mornings and evenings, sunny afternoons

Delhi is currently experiencing a dual weather pattern. Those stepping out in the morning feel a light chill, which intensifies late at night and in the early hours of the morning. Conversely, the afternoon sun keeps the weather relatively pleasant. This significant gap between day and night temperatures highlights the shifting weather conditions.

No rain; weather remains dry

There has been no rainfall in any part of the capital over the last 24 hours. At present, the weather in Delhi remains completely dry. With no rain-related activity, the fluctuations in temperature are driven primarily by prevailing seasonal conditions.

Winter approaches; preparations for warm clothing begin

The month of November is considered the onset of winter in Delhi. Under these circumstances, morning walkers, office-goers, and schoolchildren may now need to exercise greater caution than before. There is an emerging need for light, warm clothing during the early morning and late night hours. As temperatures are expected to drop further in the coming days, the intensity of the cold is likely to increase. For now, the weather in the capital remains pleasant and dry. This pattern—characterized by warm sunshine during the day and cooler temperatures at night—has become a hallmark of the early days of November.
