UP: A case involving the creation of a fake Facebook profile using the name and photograph of District Magistrate Chandra Prakash Singh has surfaced once again. This marks the fifth such incident during his tenure of nearly one and three-quarter years. Previously, a case regarding the creation of a fake profile had already been registered at the Sadar Bazar police station. The recurring nature of these incidents highlights the growing seriousness of the misuse of officials’ identities on social media.

Friend requests are being sent to members of the public, public representatives, and officials via this fake Facebook profile. It is suspected that the person behind the profile might attempt to extort money after gaining people’s trust by using the District Magistrate’s name and photo. However, no actual fraud has been reported in this specific instance so far. People need to remain vigilant following the discovery of this fake profile.

District Magistrate Chandra Prakash Singh himself shared information about the fake Facebook profile and clarified that the account created in his name is not genuine. He appealed to the public not to accept such friend requests or send money at anyone’s behest. He urged people to verify the authenticity of any message received on social media claiming to be from him.

The District Magistrate warned the public against blindly trusting messages sent using an official’s name and photograph on social media. He advised people to verify the identity of the person involved before engaging in any financial transactions. Such vigilance can help minimize the risk of falling victim to cyber fraud.
