Mathura: Chaos erupted on Thursday night during the closing ceremony of the Agrasen Jayanti Festival after Bollywood singer Palak Muchhal failed to arrive for her scheduled performance. Thousands of people had gathered at the BSA College campus to watch the singer perform, waiting from the evening until late at night. At around 11:45 pm, news that the programme had been cancelled triggered anger among spectators, some of whom began creating a commotion. Organisers eventually managed to calm the crowd.
Meanwhile, Muchhal explained her absence in a social media post, stating that she does not perform at events where food and refreshments are served during the programme.
The Singer’s absence triggers anger among fans
Palak Muchhal was scheduled to perform on the final day of the three-day Agrasen Jayanti Festival. Spectators began arriving at the BSA College campus from around 7 pm, and the venue soon filled with a large crowd eager to attend her performance.
The singer’s appearance was expected to provide a memorable conclusion to the festival. According to reports, Muchhal had arrived in Mathura earlier in the evening and was staying at a local hotel.
Agra-based Arohi Event Company had been entrusted with organising the programme. The company’s director, Amit Tiwari, had also welcomed the singer at the hotel.
However, the situation changed later in the night when organisers announced that the singer had refused to come to the venue.
What Reason Did Palak Muchhal Give for Missing the Event?
At around 11:45 pm, spectators were informed that the programme had been cancelled. After waiting for hours without seeing the singer take the stage, many became frustrated and demanded answers from the organisers.

The situation escalated into a commotion that continued for approximately an hour before the organisers managed to pacify the crowd.
Muchhal subsequently shared a post on her Instagram account explaining her decision not to attend. She said she had certain conditions regarding her performances and did not perform at events where food and refreshments were served while the programme was underway.
According to the singer, she had already communicated these requirements to the event company and the organisers.
Meanwhile, people associated with the event expressed disappointment over her absence, describing it as unfair to the audience that had gathered to watch her perform.
Organisers to Take Legal Action
Jayanti Prasad Agarwal, election convenor of the Agrawal Sabha, said the singer’s absence had disappointed members of the community and her fans.
He alleged that assurances about the singer’s arrival continued until the last moment, but she ultimately failed to appear on stage.
Agarwal said the organisers would seek legal advice before deciding on further action.
Following the dispute between the organisers and the singer’s side, attention has now turned to whether the matter will lead to legal proceedings.
