New Delhi: Following the ODI series, the T20I series between India and the West Indies began as expected. The Indian team defeated the West Indies by 8 wickets in the first T20I to take the series lead. The highlight of this victory was captain Shreyas Iyer, who scored his first century for Team India in this format. All eyes are now on the second T20I, to be played in Ranchi. The focus will be not only on the result but also on whether the 200-run mark will be crossed.

The second match of the T20 series between India and West Indies will be played on October 9th at the Jharkhand State Cricket Association (JSCA) Stadium in Ranchi. This is the first T20 match to be played at this ground in more than three years. The last time India and New Zealand clashed here was in 2023, where Team India lost. Therefore, the Indian team will be looking to return to winning ways at the JSCA Stadium.

What is the highest score in Ranchi?

This will be the fifth T20 International match at the JSCA Stadium. The first T20 match was played at this ground in 2016, and since then, India has won three of the four matches and lost just one. Therefore, the Indian team will be expected to win again. But even more curious is to see whether the 200-run wall will finally be broken on this ground.

In fact, the Ranchi Stadium has seen eight innings of batting, yet not a single innings has seen a 200-run mark. The highest total on this ground is 196, made by the Indian team in the very first match in 2016. Other than that, scores of 176, 155, 153, and 127 have been recorded here.

Who will reach the 200 mark first?

This means that India and West Indies have a chance to end this wait. With the kind of batsmen in the Indian team, scoring 200 runs is no big deal. However, the most important aspect is that Team India bat first, as that’s the position where they have the best chance of scoring 200 runs. However, Team India also faces the dilemma of whether to continue playing Sanju Samson or replace him with Vaibhav Suryavanshi after his repeated failures. If Vaibhav plays, the chances of scoring 200 runs will increase.
