New Delhi: Part 2 of the mega-budget film “Ramayana” was scheduled to release in 2027, but Namit Malhotra has now confirmed that it will arrive in 2028. Directed by Namit Malhotra, “Ramayana” was originally slated for a two-part release. Now, Malhotra has hinted that he will consider whether to make part 1 into a trilogy based on the response to it. If that happens, the film, originally planned for two parts, will be released in three.
Positive response received so far
Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, “Ramayana” has been in the news ever since its announcement. From its world premiere in Las Vegas among Hollywood stars to a recent screening for Bollywood celebrities in Mumbai, it has received an overwhelmingly positive response. Audiences have loved everything from the film’s songs to its trailer. The film will now be released to the public on November 5th. The response will determine the makers’ future business plans.
The next part has been postponed until 2028
In an interview with E! News, the film’s producer, Namit Malhotra, revealed that “Ramayana” was initially conceived as an Indian film for a global audience. However, its scope changed during production. He added that the makers have now created two master versions of the film, with the English version featuring a different edit and a rewritten script to create a different presentation for international audiences. Namit Malhotra also explained the reasoning behind pushing Part 2 to 2028 instead of 2027.
The finale needs to be strong
He said, “So the idea was that now that there’s so much excitement in the world, we wanted to take a little more time. So that when we present the grand finale, we have a little more time to deliver what we did in Part 1. I really think we needed that extra year to do justice to a film of this size. When you see Part 2 coming out, it will be a completely different story. We didn’t want to rush things.”
The movie was initially planned in 3 parts only
Namit Malhotra has planned to present the film’s climax (finale) in a grand manner. He said, “We want to present the finale in the grandest way it deserves.” Namit hinted that Ramayan could possibly become a trilogy. He revealed that the film was initially planned as a three-part series, but later the makers decided to make the story into two parts. He said that the team may reconsider their plans based on audience reactions and feedback.
