Mathura: On the occasion of Sharadiya Navratri, Mathura Police has launched an awareness campaign under Mission Shakti Phase 6.0 to promote the safety, dignity and self-reliance of women and girls. As part of the initiative, a Shakti March was organised from the Reserve Police Lines. The march aimed to raise awareness about women’s rights and encourage greater public participation in preventing crimes against women.

The Shakti March was led by Additional Superintendent of Police (Rural) Alok Raj Narayan and Assistant Superintendent of Police Ashna Chaudhary. Women police personnel, girl students from the Police Modern School and other women participated in the march. Under the direction of the Senior Superintendent of Police, the campaign aims to strengthen the sense of security among women and girls and encourage them to raise their voices against any form of harassment.

Under the Mission Shakti campaign, teams formed across various police station jurisdictions in the district are interacting with women and girls to educate them about their legal rights, women’s safety and self-reliance. The police are encouraging women to report incidents of eve-teasing, domestic violence and harassment without fear and seek assistance whenever required.

During the campaign, women are also being informed about important helpline numbers, including Women Power Line 1090, Police Emergency Service 112, Chief Minister’s Helpline 1076, Child Helpline 1098, Women’s Helpline 181 and Cyber Helpline 1930. They are also being made aware of the assistance available through women’s help desks.

The police said continuous efforts would be made under the campaign to provide a safe environment for women and girls and increase awareness of their rights.
