Noida International Airport Begins Commercial Flights, First IndiGo Service Marks Milestone

Jewar: Nearly three months after the airport was inaugurated on March 28, Noida International Airport began commercial operations on Monday after the inaugural flight from Lucknow touched down at 7:55 am.

When did the flight arrive?

Commercial flight operations kicked off at Noida International Airport in Jewar as its first scheduled IndiGo flight 6E-2278 arrived from Lucknow’s Chaudhary Charan Singh International Airport. The flight will continue on its journey to Bengaluru, scheduled to land in the city at 11:05 am.

What about Bengaluru-Mumbai flights?

Aakash Air is scheduled to operate flights to Bengaluru and Navi Mumbai on Tuesday. After IndiGo, Aakash will be the second airline to operate from this airport.

Although commercial passenger travel resumed from this airport on Monday, the first cargo flight will take off from here on Wednesday. The Noida International Airport Authority (NIAL) had previously stated that cargo services would currently be available only for domestic routes.

Who will benefit from this airport?

Before the airport’s operation, passengers traveling from Noida to Lucknow traveled via Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport, requiring them to travel by road from Noida to Delhi. The airport’s operation will save residents of Noida and surrounding areas the additional travel time required to travel to Palam Airport. The airport’s operation will benefit travelers from several districts in Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, and Haryana.

This airport was built under the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model under Yamuna International Private Limited, with Zurich Airport International AG as its subsidiary. The airport features a 3,900-meter-long runway designed for landing and takeoff of wide-body aircraft. It also boasts modern navigation infrastructure, including an Instrument Landing System (ILS) and an advanced airfield lighting system.
